Tree Pruning in North Wales

I'm Craig from North Wales Tree and Landscapes, and I prune and trim trees for homeowners across North Wales. I lighten heavy crowns, lift low branches, clear roofs and cables, and remove dead wood. Call 07923 373140 for a free written quote.

ABOUT THIS SERVICE

Tree Pruning & Trimming, Done Properly

Good pruning keeps a tree healthy and lets you live alongside it comfortably. Bad pruning, such as topping or leaving ragged stubs, causes decay and weak regrowth. Every cut I make is placed just outside the branch collar so the tree can seal the wound naturally, following recognised pruning practice.

The jobs I'm asked to do most often are crown lifting so you can walk or mow under a tree, crown thinning to let more light into a garden, deadwooding to remove branches that could fall, and cutting back growth that's touching a roof, gutter, satellite dish or a neighbour's property.

Timing matters. Many species are best pruned in late autumn or winter while dormant, but birch, walnut and maple bleed sap in spring and are better cut in summer. Fruit trees have their own rules. I'll advise on the right time for your tree and book the work to suit.

QUESTIONS

Tree Pruning Questions

Pruning is usually less expensive than felling, but the price depends on the size of the tree, how much growth needs removing, and whether I need to climb. A crown lift on a small ornamental tree is a quick job, while thinning a mature oak takes longer. I give a fixed written price after a site visit.

In general you can cut back branches that overhang your boundary, as long as the tree isn't protected. You should offer the cuttings back to your neighbour. I check for Tree Preservation Orders first and can do the work tidily so the tree isn't left lopsided or damaged.

Not when it's done properly. I remove only what's needed, usually no more than a quarter of the live crown in one go, and make clean cuts at the right points. Over-pruning or topping is what damages trees, and I don't do either.

Most garden trees only need attention every three to five years. Fast-growing species close to buildings may need lighter work more often. I'll suggest a sensible interval rather than selling you work the tree doesn't need.

Yes. Branches are chipped or taken away, and lawns, paths and drives are raked and swept before I leave.
