STUMP GRINDING & REMOVAL

Stump Grinding in North Wales

I'm Craig from North Wales Tree and Landscapes, and I grind out tree stumps for homeowners across North Wales. Stumps are ground below ground level so you can turf, plant or build over the area. Call 07923 373140 or send an enquiry for a quote.

ABOUT THIS SERVICE

Stump Grinding & Removal, Done Properly

An old stump can trip people up, get in the way of a mower, sprout fresh shoots, or attract honey fungus. Digging one out by hand is slow, hard work. A stump grinder chips the stump and the main roots away to below ground level in a fraction of the time, with far less disturbance to the surrounding garden.

I grind stumps whether I felled the tree or not, including old conifer stumps left for years and stumps from trees removed by previous owners. Compact grinders fit through most garden gates, so access is rarely a problem in terraced and semi-detached properties.

Once the stump is ground, the hole is backfilled with the chippings or the chippings can be taken away and replaced with topsoil, ready for turf or planting. I'll check for cables and pipes near the stump before I start, and I'll let you know of any that might affect the work.

QUESTIONS

Stump Grinding Questions

The price depends mainly on the diameter of the stump, the number of stumps, and access to them. Grinding several stumps on the same visit is better value than one at a time. I give a fixed price once I've seen the stumps or clear photos of them.

Usually to around 15 to 30 centimetres below ground level, which is enough for turf or planting. If you're putting down a patio or building over the spot, I can go deeper where the machine allows.

Most species won't regrow once the stump is ground out. A few, such as sycamore and some willows, can occasionally send up shoots from remaining roots, which are easy to cut back if they appear.

In most cases, yes. The machine I use is narrow enough to go through a standard garden gate. If access is very tight or involves steps, let me know when you enquire and I'll check before quoting.

I can use them to backfill the hole, spread them on borders as mulch, or take them away. Just tell me what you'd prefer.
