HEDGE TRIMMING & REDUCTION

Hedge Trimming in North Wales

I'm Craig from North Wales Tree and Landscapes, and I trim and reduce hedges for homeowners across North Wales. I handle everything from neat privet borders to overgrown leylandii, as one-off cuts or regular visits. Call 07923 373140 for a quote.

ABOUT THIS SERVICE

Hedge Trimming & Reduction, Done Properly

A hedge left for a few years quickly gets out of hand, blocking light, spreading over paths and becoming too tall to reach safely with domestic trimmers. I cut hedges back to a neat, even line and, where needed, reduce the height of tall conifer hedges so they're manageable again.

Leylandii and other conifers need care, because they won't regrow from old brown wood. I cut back to green growth and advise honestly on how far a hedge can be reduced without leaving bare patches. Beech, hawthorn, privet and laurel are more forgiving and can usually be cut back harder.

Hedges are home to nesting birds, so major cutting is best done outside the main nesting season, roughly March to August. Before any work, I check for active nests. All cuttings are collected and taken away, and paths and lawns are left clean.

QUESTIONS

Hedge Trimming Questions

It depends on the length, height and width of the hedge, the species, and how much growth needs removing. A regular trim on a well-kept hedge is quick, while reducing an overgrown leylandii hedge is a bigger job. I give a fixed written price before any work starts.

Most formal hedges look their best with one or two cuts a year. Fast-growing species like privet and leylandii may need two or three. I can arrange regular visits so you don't have to remember.

Yes. Height reduction is one of the most common hedge jobs I do. I can usually take a third off the height in one go. Sides need more care, as conifers won't regrow from bare brown wood.

Light trims can be done most of the year. Heavy cutting is best done from September to February, outside the main bird nesting season. I always check for nests before starting.

Yes. Every job includes collecting and removing all cuttings, so you won't be left with bags of green waste.
